caring is what we do
Companion Care & Homemaker Services
Depression affects more than 19 million Americans regardless of age, race, or gender. While depression is not a normal part of the aging process, it is more likely to occur in older adults experiencing other physical health conditions. For example, almost a quarter of those who will experience a stroke each year will also experience clinical depression. Unfortunately, symptoms of depression are often overlooked and untreated when they coincide with other medical illnesses or life events that commonly occur in older adults (i.e. the death of a spouse).
